Size: 9-15 inches (snout to tail)

Lifespan: 5-10 years (in captivity)

Adult weight: 2-4 lbs.

Locomotion:

slow moving, jerky steps helping them blend better with environment

All males have three distinct rostral horns. Females can have three horns, one horn, or none.

Teeth are weakly attached to jawbones, instead of in sockets. 

Tongue can be up to twice the lenth of their body.

Eyes can rotate 180 degrees and focus independently.

Upper and lower eyelids have a pinhole opening for the pupil. 

Small crest at back of head. 

Small spines along vertebral line. 

Zygodactylous feet - 

Five toes, two pointing inward, three pointing outward, these help navigate through trees.

Prehensile tail - 

able to grip, grasp, and hold objects, making it easy to hang from branches to search for food.

Jackson's chameleons have chromatophores (specialized cells) in their skin that enable them to change their skin color.

They are normally shades of green but can turn dark, black even, when distressed.
